Races

I know that for me, whenever I come across a running blog I always go straight to the credentials. So, here they are! I ran my first marathon in 1998 (when I was 20 years old) in Victoria, BC and I finished it in around 4 hours and 15 minutes.

Then I had Jake when I was 21, and Freddy when I was 23. After Freddy was born, I ran a half marathon in around 2 hours. Katie came along when I was 26. I kept my running up through some pretty stressful years, and ended up running the 2010 Boston marathon in 3:28.

When we were going through the process of divorce, I used running as my coping strategy and began logging 80-100 mile weeks. I decided to put all that training to use and ran a 50km race on the island in 4:13:12, and then signed up for the 2011 BC Athletics Whistler 50 mile ultra and ran it in a time of 7:17:25.

In 2012 I ran my personal best marathon in Vancouver, BC in 3:10:26. My best half marathon time is 1:28 and change.

So that should give you some idea of what kind of crazy runner I am. I keep my weekly mileage in and around 50-70 miles per week. I’d love to run a sub-3 hour marathon, but I need to wait until Callum is done breastfeeding because he won't let me leave him for that long! Andrew recently caught the marathon bug so for now I am concentrating on being his number one fan.
